This is about Modular EV, new concept of cars, that can breakthrough the chasm of EV.
It is concerned with some article in this Blog.
If you are interested in Modular EV, I recommend this List
Let’s dig into Modular EV

“Cars especially EV will be the computer” or “Cars especially EV will be the new space”
But

Even EVs don’t have much difference from existing cars, from appearance to value

According to an AAA Newsroom survey about EV perception, the perception of EVs is still confined to that of traditional cars.

So, I suggest that automakers provide consumers with new value as a solution to this chasm.

Cars are enclosed, comfortable, and static.
You might think of a car as a moving object.
Surprisingly, 95% of the lifespan of most cars is spent while parked.
A space
that can become separated by closing the door,
that represents comfort and safety,
and that is static.
What kind of space comes to mind after hearing this?

According to the Pew Research Center, Americans want their own space more than community facilities.
This need for private space is inherent to all humans, not just Americans, but everyone living on Earth.
(Even in Korea, there is research indicating that all people, regardless of age or gender, want their own space.)
Although personal rooms already exist, they fall short of being a perfect private space because they are connected to others, like family.
So, if there were a room that could be located anywhere I want, it would be the perfect private space.

We need to fill that space with content.

We should make cars into attractive and private rooms.

In the dark car, you are watching your favorite sports like the NFL, NBA, or EPL on a large screen in front of you.
Using the same screen, you can watch a movie or a Netflix series.
What about a concert?
Taylor Swift’s concert is being streamed live in your car.
It’s a “Carcert.”
Can you imagine it?
Maybe you can’t.
You might ask me,
“Is it possible?”
“That doesn’t make sense.”
You’re right.
If the environment in the car remains the same as it is now, it’s not possible.

EV makers have already developed skateboard platforms for efficient production.
We can modularize EV upper bodies by leveraging the skateboard platform.

I thought about modularizing the part behind the B-pillar, except for the driver’s seat, because self-driving isn’t completed yet.
To turn this module into an environment where people can fully enjoy content,

Theater is a representative example.
Theaters have improved their interior environments to optimize the space for perfect immersion in content.
If we, as automakers, cooperate with theaters, we can turn the module into a perfect space for content.
Furthermore, We can provide consumers with a new value of cars as spaces.

The first phase is the EV era, which is before Self-Driving Level 4.
The second phase is the Self-Driving era, which is after Self-Driving Level 4.
Convergence with the content industry is an innovation for the EV era.
In addition, Modular EVs should serve as a bridge between the two phases of the future automotive market, just as the iPod touch did for the iPhone.

You can purchase modules as needed and keep them in a module depository.
It allows you to change modules according to your purpose.

Appendixes is ready for those who are interested in Modular EVs.
